About HaruKorean
Haru (하루) means one day in Korean. HaruKorean is a place to study a little, try a sentence, and check what you have learned.
Who the Lessons Are For
The site is for people learning Korean with Japanese or English explanations. It covers Hangul, grammar, everyday conversation, and reading. Lessons are free, work in a browser, and do not require an account.
Japanese comparisons cover both helpful similarities and traps, such as verb–particle combinations and sounds that katakana cannot represent precisely. The seven course levels describe the order of study on this site; they are separate from TOPIK exam levels.
How a Lesson Works
- Read the grammar and examples, then check the situations where the pattern is used.
- Review vocabulary and example sentences with Hangul, romanization, translations, and audio.
- Check your answers in multiple-choice and matching practice. Some questions have individual explanations; lesson grammar is available for reference alongside the feedback.
- Review missed questions at the end of a round. This practice record lasts while the lesson is open and clears when you reload or leave it.
Audio and Romanization
Audio files use synthesized Korean speech generated with Microsoft Edge TTS. They are not recordings of a human speaker. If a file cannot play, a browser speech voice is used where supported. Romanization helps with reading but does not capture every detail of pronunciation.
Lessons and Corrections
Explanations, comparisons, and practice are organized around a learning task. Basic language examples can appear in many textbooks; changing a few words is not our measure of originality. The aim is to explain the setting, the likely mistake, and a useful way to check your understanding.
Lessons link to a dictionary and language rules so you can check meanings, examples, and pronunciation. If you find an error or an unnatural example, send the page, question number, and what needs checking through the contact page. This is an independently maintained project, so replies may take time.
